Packaging Equipment - Smart Wrap
Smart Wrap Stretch Wrapping Solutions
The Smart Wrap™ Solution Smart Wrap is a no compromise stretch wrapping control system, designed to wrap a variety of loads with specific and unique wrap methods that optimizes load stability at the lowest total cost.
The Need For Smart Wrap Since not all loads are alike, why wrap them all the same? The more your loads vary, the more you need the Smart Wrap system. Some are light or heavy, tall or short, slick bags or cases, column stacked or interlocked. Unisource can determine which Smart Wrap system will best optimize the method for each load.
Smart Wrap Delivers Cost Savings and Operational Efficiency Savings are dependent on the variety of loads being wrapped. But, typical savings are 4 to 5 times that of the traditional down-gauging strategies. Customers will achieve cost reductions of 25-50% over the one wrap fits all method.
Loads will be confidently secured and delivered to their destination while the operational costs will be reduced significantly. This system benefits the large production operations with wide and varied product SKUs the most.
Load Identification Methods
Load identification methods can vary by application and may include:
- Load cell pallet weighing
- Light curtain load profiling
- Bar code scanning of loads
- Interface load communication with palletizers
- Networking communication of SKUs with plant host computer
- Operator selection via interface screen while on fork truck in the wrapper loading position
Smart Wrap Control Features
- Full force to load range film tension control during the wrap cycle
- Full speed range load rotation or arm rotation control during the wrap cycle
- Full speed range roll carriage vertical travel control during the wrap cycle
- One way or two way wrap methods with dynamic control of film overlap layers throughout the wrap cycle
- The ability to handle inboard top layers on partial loads with a unique roll carriage travel top layer wrap method
Information Needed To Determine Proper Smart Wrap Solution
- Current product wrapping issues and short comings
- Load weights, heights, types and stack patterns
- Percentage of production for the load varieties
- Customer film usage per year on the machine
- The PLC type in the current wrapper, and the manufacturer's model and serial number
- Possible obvious load identification methods that can be used to identify the load varieties
Typical Installation Schedule
- Survey visit to plan implementation and integration
- Evaluate stacking strength / film tension performance
- Confirm estimated costs and savings potential
- 6-8 weeks to complete engineering & documentation
- 2 scheduled days of no production with the wrapper
- 2-3 days of start up and program tuning combine with the confirmation of savings per load type
