Quality Stretch Film +
Insta-Thread = Sustainability

Orion pioneered high-performance powered prestretch film delivery and today the Insta-Thread sets the standard for film delivery technology. The Insta-Thread film carriage uses proprietary technology to prestretch ilm at rates up to 300% giving you maximum load holding power while using the least amount of stretch film. And using less stretch film (a resin based product) means fewer barrels of oil are needed which is good for our environment and our country.

Stretch Wrapping Machine Types

Orion offers 3 distinct types of stretch wrapping machines; rotary tower, turntable and orbital.

Turntable models, such as the Orion FA Series, turn the pallet load on a turntable while the film carriage moves up and down on a mast. Many customers prefer turntable models for their smaller footprint and easy portability. As with the MA Series, Orion offers the FA Series in a variety of different models to match customer load and speed requirements. A variety of available options help you customize Orion automatics to fit your exact application needs.

Orbital wrappers are designed to wrap product that is too long to fit on a rotary or turntable wrapping machine. With ring sizes ranging from 15 to 90 inches, these machines can accommodate a wide range of product shapes and sizes. Product is either pushed manually, or conveyed automatically, through the wrap zone. The film carriage (larger models use two) is mounted to the rotating ring. As the product passes through the ring, the film is wrapped around the product much like the wrapping around the handle of a tennis racket.

Rotary tower machines, such as the Orion MA Series, rotate the stretch film around a stationary load which is well-suited for pallet loads that are fragile, unstable, very light or very heavy. Rotary tower machines are also better for environments that require frequent wash-down in the wrapping area since the drive mechanism is above the load and the wrapping area remains clear. Orion MA Series machines are available in various models to match your throughput and load weight requirements.

Automatic vs. Semi-Automatic

Your production rate and throughput level will determine your need for either a semi- or fully automatic (operatorless) system. In many situations, throughput rate of 30 or more loads per hour dictate the use of a fully automatic or stand-alone system for maximum efficiency.

Stand-Alone Automatics

A relative new innovation to the stretch wrapping marketplace is the stand-alone automatic, a machine which offers the convenience and time-savings of an automatic model, yet which carries a price point closer to a semi-automatic. Stand-alone automatic models are offered in both rotary tower and turntable models and offer the advantage of automatic film tail attachment and detachment to the load. This eliminates the need for operators to perform these tasks and allows them to attend to other productive duties.
